Spanish II
Spanish II continues students’ study of Spanish, expanding their knowledge of vocabulary and grammar. Students improve comprehension of listening and reading passages and begin expressing themselves more confidently in speaking and writing.
Each unit introduces a new vocabulary theme and grammar concept, along with reading and listening comprehension activities, speaking and writing exercises, multimedia cultural presentations, and interactive practices to reinforce learning. Context and conversational examples are emphasized throughout.
Students actively participate in their language learning, using intermediate vocabulary and a wide range of grammar patterns. They engage in conversations, respond to prompts, analyze and compare cultural practices in Spanish-speaking countries, and take assessments to track their progress.
The course is aligned with national standards from the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL).
In the first semester, students study professions, clothing, the home, the body, reflexive verbs, cognates, numbers, vacations, and telephone communication.
In the second semester, students cover directions, transportation, medical vocabulary, outdoor sports, travel, and computer-related terms.
