3rd Grade Social Studies helps students explore the world around them through a variety of social studies concepts and topics.
Students use map skills to understand different types of maps and examine how people adapt to various climates and natural resources. They study the regions of the United States, focusing on physical and human features, history, and culture. Students also explore cultures around the world and in their communities, observing how culture evolves to meet human needs.
Students learn about the founding documents and principles of the U.S. government and how state, local, tribal, and national governments operate. They explore citizens’ rights, responsibilities, and civic duties. Students investigate the relationship between humans and the environment, considering ways to make a positive impact in their communities. They also research public issues and propose potential solutions.
Students expand their understanding of basic economic principles and the importance of saving and budgeting for personal financial health.
