1st Grade Social Studies
1st Grade Social Studies introduces students to a range of social studies topics, including physical and human geography, history, U.S. symbols and celebrations, citizenship, and basic economics.
Students learn about the locations, characteristics, resources, and cultures of the world and their own community. They explore historical concepts and the history of the United States, identify key U.S. symbols, and understand the reasons behind national observances. Students also learn the meaning of citizenship and the responsibilities of good citizens.
Basic economic concepts such as needs and wants, buying and selling, and the roles of consumers and producers are also covered. Students investigate the development of ancient civilizations in the Fertile Crescent, Egypt, India, China, and Greece.
