Modern World Studies
Modern World Studies examines world history from about 1870 to the present. Students begin by studying events leading up to 1914, including the Second Industrial Revolution and the rise of imperialism.
The course then moves into the modern era, covering World War I, World War II, the Great Depression, and global tensions during the Cold War. Students explore both the challenges and achievements of the twentieth century, with an emphasis on political and social history.
Students also study physical and human geography and examine current global issues from multiple perspectives.
Online lessons help students stay organized, explore topics in greater depth, review for assessments, and practice advanced historical thinking and analysis skills. Activities include analyzing primary sources and maps, connecting historical events to current events, and completing projects.
