7th Grade Language Arts builds on reading comprehension and analysis skills for both informational and fictional texts, with continued emphasis on effective reading strategies.

Students practice expressing themselves using standard (formal) English in written and oral presentations. Studying and analyzing different genres of writing strengthens their communication skills.

Students explore a variety of media to understand informational and persuasive techniques, recognize explicit and implied messages, and see how visual and auditory cues influence meaning. Grammar, usage, and mechanics skills are further developed, and vocabulary continues to expand through targeted acquisition strategies.

Discussion activities are included to actively engage students in the curriculum and foster a sense of community.
