History and Social Studies - Skills Recovery
History and Social Studies - Skills Recovery is a flexible online course designed for middle school students who who would benefit from remediation of general skills, as well as specific content areas in social studies.
The first unit focuses on geography, helping students understand maps, explore the Earth's structure and climates, and examine how humans impact the environment.
The second unit covers civics and government, including comparisons of different types of government, analysis of the U.S. Constitution, and lessons on civic and political participation.
The third unit explores U.S. history, from Native American and European settlements to the founding and growth of the United States, with attention to changes in politics, economics, and government through the mid-20th century.
The fourth unit surveys world history, comparing cultures of ancient and medieval civilizations, analyzing the impact of exploration and revolutions, and examining major global events up to the Cold War.
The fifth unit introduces economic principles, including comparisons of economic systems, understanding factors that affect markets and globalization, and practicing personal finance skills.
