6th Grade Health
6th Grade Health helps students develop the knowledge and skills they need to make healthy decisions to stay active, safe, and informed as they grow into teenagers and adults.
The course covers key areas of health, including physical, social, emotional, and mental well-being. Students explore topics such as the renal and urinary system, nutrition, food allergies, disease prevention, media influences on health and purchasing decisions, safety, internet safety, conflict resolution, bullying, and violence prevention.
Students also learn about the use and abuse of tobacco, drugs, and alcohol—including the opioid epidemic—environmental health through service projects, and mental and emotional health and disorders.
The course engages students with relevant health and wellness topics and real-world health issues, using graded assignments, quizzes, and unit tests to assess understanding of the concepts covered.
