3rd Grade Fitness and Health
3rd Grade Fitness and Health helps students engage in physical activity while developing the knowledge and skills needed to live a healthy life.
Students learn about the benefits of regular physical activity and the importance of physical fitness. Each day, students participate in 30 minutes of physical activity, practicing new fitness skills weekly to improve flexibility, coordination, and aerobic movement.
Students apply these fitness skills through a variety of games and sports, including basketball, soccer, football, and volleyball.
In health lessons, students explore physical, mental, and social health. Topics include wellness, safety, nutrition, disease prevention, the risks of tobacco and alcohol, and understanding how body systems, like the respiratory system, function. Students also learn about healthy relationships, communication, dealing with bullies, and staying safe online.
Students use a Fitness and Health Notebook to reflect on their learning and apply the information and skills they gain.
